
Huskies Battle In 3OT Loss At Arizona

Tucson, Ariz. – Washington women's basketball (13-11, 3-10 Pac-12) fought in a triple overtime battle at Arizona (13-12, 5-8 Pac-12) Sunday afternoon in the McKale Center, but fell in the end 82-90.
The Huskies played with a lot of heart and toughness, forcing their second multiple overtime game of the weekend in the desert.
In the second quarter, UW picked up the pace and went on a run, making 24 points and shooting 83.3% in the quarter. The Huskies went into halftime trailing 31-38, with Lauren Schwartz leading all scorers with 16 points.
The second half was a battle as baskets continued to be traded. As the seconds ticked down in regulation, Schwartz made a buzzer beater for the win that was deemed shot after the clock ran out and taken away, and the Huskies headed to overtime tied at 60.
The Washington offense was cooking at the end of regulation, as the Huskies shot 52.2%.
In overtime, Sayvia Sellers had a steal and score opportunity, capped off by an and-one, converting the three-point play. The game went into double overtime tied at 69.
Elle Ladine made a layup in the second overtime period to tie the game up again with 3:36 to play. Down by two points with 8.2 to play, Schwartz was fouled going to the basket and made both free throws to tie it again.
With the game tied at 77, it was onto triple overtime in Tucson.
Schwartz drained her fifth three-pointer of the game to get the scoring started in triple overtime, tying a career high made-threes in a game, and finished 5-6 from three.
Schwartz finished the game leading UW in scoring by tying her career high points with 27 – the most in her Husky career – as well as four rebounds, 3 assists, and a steal. She also recorded career assist No. 300.
Sellers finished with a career high 20 points, and also had three steals.
Ladine was the other Husky in double-digit scoring with 16 points.
Hannah Stines had a career high six assists, and led the team in rebounding with six boards.
The Huskies shot 47.7% in their longest game of the season.
Next up, Washington hosts Oregon for a Purple Out game Friday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m. PT and then Oregon State for Senior Day on Sunday, Feb. 25 at 12 p.m. PT in Alaska Airlines Arena.
