
Huskies Defeat Stetson, 2-1

DELAND, Fla. – No. 4 Washington picked up its second win in as many days in a 2-1 victory over Stetson on Wednesday afternoon. The Huskies move to 8-1 on the season.
After a scoreless first, Alana Johnson smashed her second home run of the season over the center field wall to give the Huskies a 1-0 lead.
Stetson responded in the bottom half of the inning to tie the game at one.
The Huskies answered right back. With two outs, Brooklyn Carter singled through the left side and stole her 10th base of the season to put her in scoring position. Jillian Celis followed with a single of her own to bring Carter in to give UW a 2-1 advantage.
Ruby Meylan got the start and threw three innings, allowing one run (unearned) with six strikeouts and one walk. Brooke Nelson came in relief to get her first win of the season. She struck out four while giving up only one hit.
Washington heads down to Tampa for the South Florida Showdown. The Huskies open with a Top 10 matchup tomorrow against No. 7 Oklahoma State at 10:30 a.m. PT followed by host South Florida at 1 p.m. PT.
