FORT MYERS, Fla. – No. 5 Washington continues its 10-day Florida road trip on Tuesday afternoon at Florida Gulf Coast. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET and streaming on ESPN+.
The Huskies added a midweek matchup at Stetson for Wednesday afternoon. First pitch from DeLand is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. PT/3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN+.
Action from the South Florida Showdown begins on Thursday with a Top 25 meeting with Oklahoma State before playing host South Florida later in the afternoon. Washington is set to face Pittsburgh, Loyola Chicago and Yale to close out the weekend.

2023 SEASON RECAP
The Dawgs are coming off a 2023 season where they made their 15th trip to the Women's College World Series and finished with an overall record of 44-15 and 16-8 in Pac-12 play. The Huskies placed third in the conference following the regular season and third in the inaugural Pac-12 Tournament. UW had three named as NFCA All-Americans in Baylee Klingler (First Team), Sami Reynolds (Third Team) and Ruby Meylan (Third Team).
SHRINERS CHILDREN'S CLEARWATER INVITATIONAL RECAP
Washington went 3-0 at the Clearwater Invitational with wins over No. 18 Kentucky, Minnesota and Wisconsin. UW was also set to face LSU and North Carolina over the weekend, but both games were rained out. Kinsey Fiedler led the team in batting average, going .500 on the weekend while also driving in three runs. Jillian Celis was the team leader in RBI with five while also averaging .462 with six hits, a double and a home run. The pitching staff recorded a 1.47 ERA with only four earned runs allowed in 19 innings and holding opponents to a .182 batting average. Ruby Meylan was named Pac-12 Pitcher of the Week after posting a 2-0 record in her two appearances with 13 strikeouts and a 0.70 ERA.
OPENING WEEKEND SUCCESS
Dating back to 2014, the Huskies are 48-5 during opening weekend. Last season, the Huskies went 4-1 at the Mark Campbell Invitational with the lone loss coming against Oklahoma. This year, UW went 3-1 at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with the lone also coming against the Sooners in extra innings. Prior to that, Washington went undefeated the previous three seasons over opening weekend.
DAWGS WORLDWIDE
Ruby Meylan, Lindsay Lopez, Jillian Celis, Sis Bates and Heather Tarr all represented national teams this summer along with former Huskies Taran Alvelo and Baylee Klingler. Meylan played with Team USA at the Japan All-Star Series in August. Bates, Tarr and Klingler participated with the US National Team at the WBSC World Cup Group A and Pan American Games. Lopez and Celis represented Mexico at the Canada Cup and Pan American Games while Alvelo played with Team Puerto Rico at the World Cup qualifier and Pan American Games.
TOUGH SCHEDULE
The Huskies' 2024 schedule includes 10 teams ranked in the Top 25 preseason poll by either NFCA or USA Softball. The teams include Oklahoma, Florida State, Stanford, Oklahoma State, UCLA, Utah, LSU, Oregon, Nebraska, Kentucky while 2024 opponents Arizona, Arizona State, Minnesota and Cal are receiving votes.
COUNTDOWN TO 800
Head coach Heather Tarr is six wins for 800 in her career, all at Washington. Tarr is 29th among active Division I head coaches in total wins and 13th among coach who have only coaches at one school. Her .725 winning percentage is 10th among current DI head coaches.
LIGHTNING FAST SPEED
Brooklyn Carter is off to a fast start on the bases. In seven games, Carter has eight stolen bases. Against Iowa State, she tied a program record with four steals in a game becoming the first Husky since 2000 to record that feat. Heading into the weekend, she is fourth in NCAA Division I in steals. Last season, Carter had 28 stolen bases.
