Huskies Pull Away From Beavers In Four Sets

CORVALLIS, Ore. β On the strength of the first career double-double from fifth-year senior Madi Endsley, the Husky volleyball team continued its winning ways with a 25-23, 22-25, 25-23, 25-15 win over Oregon State at Gill Coliseum. Washington improved to 8-0 and got its third victory over a former Pac-12 rival.

The first three sets each came down to the wire, with UW pulling out sets one and three, before the Dawgs put everything together in the fourth set and broke through the Beaver dam. Washington hit .407 in the fourth set to finish at .270 for the match, while the Beavers hit .111 in the final set and finished at .167 overall.

Washington's block impressed once again, putting down 14 OSU swings. Sophomore Katy Wessels led that effort with eight block assists, while Audra Wilmes had five, and Julia Hunt and Kiune Fletcher each had four blocks.

Endsley had a career-high 13 digs and combined that with 12 kills for the first double-double of her career. She shared the team lead with Hunt, who had 12 kills and was deadly efficient again with a .579 attack percentage (12-1-19). Emoni Bush had 11 kills and hit .370, and Fletcher also had 10 kills, hitting .231. Wessels posted seven kills, one off her career-high, hitting .429.

Setters Molly Wilson and Alexis Haury kept the Daws in system, with Wilson posting 26 assists and Haury 22. Lauren Bays had a team-best 15 digs and added six assists.

Up Next: Washington stays on the road, traveling tomorrow down to Long Beach, Calif. where the Dawgs will wrap up non-conference play on Thursday and Friday, taking on Long Beach State and Pepperdine. LBSU is up first on Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
