November 10, 2025 | Women's Rowing
Washington sophomore Annelise Hahl added to her trophy case last weekend in Turkey, earning a gold medal in the mixed coxed quadruple sculls at the 2025 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals.
Hahl, from Cary, N.C., joined the UW roster last season as a decorated beach sprints rower, having won a gold at the Under 19 level at 2024 World Rowing Coastal Championships, where she also competed at the senior level. USRowing's Beach Sprint Female Athlete of the Year in 2024, she also won a silver medal in 2023, competed at the 2022 championships, and has won several other medals at the under-17 level.
This past weekend in Manavgat, Turkey, she was part of a U.S. crew that earned the gold medal in the mixed coxed quad. Having earned an opening-round bye and beaten quads from Germany and Turkey to reach the finals, Hahl's American quad out-paced Spain with a time of 2:07.24, about three seconds ahead of the Spanish time of 2:10.32.
Beach sprints are held on a 500-meter slalom course where participants start and end on a beach, racing through a slalom course to a buoy 250 meters from the shore, and back.
Last year at UW, Hahl was a part of the Huskies' third varsity eight crew that won its race at the Big Ten Championships, part of a sweep of the UW's first time participating in its new conference's championship regatta.
