SEATTLE -- It's an East Coast Thanksgiving for the Husky volleyball team as UW closes out the 2025 campaign with its first conference road trip out to Maryland and Rutgers. The first course will be a Wednesday night showdown with the Terrapins in College Park, Maryland with first serve at 4 p.m. Pacific / 7 p.m. Eastern. Then on Friday, the Huskies will go shopping for one last win in New Brunswick, New Jersey against the Scarlet Knights in a match that starts at 10 a.m. Pacific / 1 p.m. Eastern. Both matches will be streaming only on Big Ten Plus.
Washington is coming off one of its best wins of the season, sweeping UCLA last Saturday on Senior Night to wrap up the home schedule. The Dawgs will be unable to reach the .500 mark to qualify for NCAA play, but still want to keep that momentum going on the road this week to sustain that high level to the finish and build on it in the offseason. Two wins this weekend would also put the Huskies even with their 2024 conference win total of nine.
Maryland and Rutgers are at the bottom of the conference but still playing competitive matches and both will be wanting to end the season on a high note as well.
The Terrapins are 8-20 overall for the year and beat Rutgers for their one conference victory. They had five set losses against No. 16 Penn State, as well as Michigan State and Ohio State. Maryland is hitting .152 in conference play and giving up a .281 mark. Ajack Malual ranks 15th in the Big Ten with 3.34 kills per set. Ally Williams leads the defense with 2.72 digs per set and Duru Gökçen is in the top-20 in blocks per set with 1.00. UW won its only visit to Maryland back in 2017.
Rutgers is 2-16 in conference, getting wins over Maryland and Ohio State. The Knights had five set losses to Iowa, Michigan, and Ohio State as well. They host Oregon on Wednesday before UW visits. In B1G play, Aspen Maxwell leads the team with 2.81 kills per set and Lexi Visintine adds 2.42. Zora Hardison posts 2.21 kills per set, hitting .295 with 0.82 blocks per set, and Lily Bolen is 12th in assists per set at 9.18. Visintine and Bolen both have 20 aces in conference, tying them for 14th overall. This is UW's first ever trip to Rutgers.
