SEATTLE β The Washington women's tennis team (3-1) will host Washington State and Arizona State this weekend for two non-conference matches at Nordstrom Tennis Center.
This weekend will be the last time the Dawgs play at home until March 14 when Washington hosts USC for its first Big Ten home match.
The match against Washington State on Friday, Feb. 14 will be Pride Day for the Huskies. Fans can pick up a free pride flag and sticker at the marketing table upstairs in Nordstrom Tennis Center, while supplies last.
Sunday's match against the Sun Devils will be the Mental Health Awareness Match. Tea, face masks, and other self-care goodies can be picked up at the marketing table.
LAST TIME OUT
The Dawgs are coming off back-to-back 7-0 sweeps of Portland and Gonzaga.
Erika Matsuda and Sophie Luescher both improved to 3-0 in singles play with wins in Spokane at No. 1 and No. 5, respectively.
SCOUTING REPORT β WASHINGTON STATE
The Cougars are 7-2 to start the season, coming off a 6-1 win against Fresno State.
The Huskies and Cougs faced off twice last season, both resulting in UW wins. The Dawgs swept 4-0 in the final Pac-12 regular season match of the season in Pullman, then faced WSU a match later in the first round of the Pac-12 Championships in a 4-1 Washington victory.
SCOUTING REPORT β ARIZONA STATE
The Sun Devils are 3-2 to start the season, coming off a 4-2 win over No. 15 Pepperdine. Arizona State will face Oregon in Eugene on Friday before heading north to Washington.
Last season, the Huskies fell 4-0 to ASU in Tempe as UW split the Arizona conference road trip.
ASU has one doubles pair in the rankings and three singles players. The doubles duo of Sara Svetac/Karin Altori are ranked 56th, along with No. 38 Emilija Tverijonaite, No. 45 Sara Svetac, and No. 99 Ada Piestrzynska in the singles rankings.
