CATHEDRAL CITY, Calif. – Washington softball closed out the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic with a 6-4 victory over Fresno State on Sunday morning.

UW improves to 8-7 on the season.

Sophia Ramuno got the start tossing five innings with six strikeouts. Morgan Reimer (3-4) picked up her second win of the weekend after coming on in relief and striking out four. It is the second time this season the UW pitching staff has combined for 10 or more strikeouts.

After allowing a pair of runs in the first, Ramuno and the Husky defense settled down, retiring 13 consecutive batters.

A lead off single by Charity Sevaaetasi put a runner on base for Alexis DeBoer. The freshman sent her fourth home run of the season out to left to tie the game at two.

Jadyn Glab began the fifth with her sixth home run of the season – and fourth of the weekend – to give the Huskies a one-run lead. DeBoer followed with her third run of the day on a sacrifice fly, driving in Giselle Alvarez.

Fresno State responded with a two-run home run in the sixth to tie the game.

With a runner on and one out, Alycia Flores launched her second home run of the season out to right field to re-take the lead in the top of the seventh.

Reimer and the Husky defense shut down the Bulldogs to end the game and secure the third win of the weekend.
