Max Banks Selected By White Sox In 14th Round Of MLB Draft

SEATTLE - Max Banks was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 14th round of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday. The senior was the only Husky selected in the 20 round draft, going at pick number 406.Β
Banks was a dominant pitcher for Washington this season, collecting a 7-4 record while throwing 10 games of at least 6.0 innings pitched.Β On seven occasions in 2025, Banks tossed 6.0 or more innings with two earned runs allowed or less.
For his efforts, Banks earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors. He also was successful in the classroom at Washington,Β earning a spotΒ on the CSC Academic All-District team.

Banks proved to be one of the best pitchers in the Big Ten, ranking in the top ten in four major categories. He finished sixth in victories (7), seventh in ERA (3.67), eighth in hits allowed per nine innings (7.21), and 10th in WHIP (1.18). In addition to the above stats in which he led the team, Banks also topped the Huskies in batting average against (.222), batters struck out (65), and batters struck out looking (17).
Banks, a native of San Francisco, began his collegiate career at Chapman. He spent three years at the Division III school, collectingΒ ABCA Third Team All-Region and All-SCIAC First Team awards.
Banks becomes the first Husky selected during the Eddie Smith era at Washington. He also becomes the 29th Dawg draftee since 2015.
