Back-And-Forth Day Puts Washington In Tie For Sixth After Day One At Sahalee

SAMMAMISH, Wash. โ Following a long day on the course that featured an early start and some mid-round showers, the Washington men's golf team battled a back-and-forth day at Sahalee Country Club, tying for sixth after two rounds at the Sahalee Player's Championship.

"Overall, it was a solid day," head coach Alan Murray said. "We made plenty of silly errors and were a little careless at times but there was plenty of good stuff out there."

After a slow start battling difficult conditions early in the morning to begin the first round, the Huskies rebounded well on the back nine to slowly climb back up the leaderboard. Ultimately, UW finished the opening round in seventh, 13 shots over par.

It was a mix of veterans and newcomers leading the way for the Dawgs in the first round, with Finn Koelle, Grady Millar and Jacob Goode all firing two-over 74s. The trio was tied for 14th through 18 holes.

Jack Murphy's 79 put him in a tie for 55th, while Jake Foley pushed through a tough round, carding an 83 to sit in a tie for 69th.

Playing as individuals, UW's Brock Maulding and Vidur Subramaniam posted respective rounds of 78 and 83

Unlike the opening round, Washington came out of the gates firing in round two, shooting four-shots under par through the first three holes.

Outside of a sloppy portion in the middle of the round, the momentum largely carried throughout the evening, with Washington finishing up two shots under par for the round.

It was once again Koelle who spearheaded the push for the Dawgs, posting a blistering 68 to end the at two-under, sitting fifth entering the final round. Foley also carded a red number, rebounding with a one-under 71 to finish the day tied for 58th at 10-over.

Goode and Millar capped their first career collegiate rounds with a 73 and 74, respectively. Good is tied for 26th at three-over, while Millar is one shot back of him, tied for 31st. Jack Murphy rounded out the Husky lineup, posting a 76 to finish tied for 63rd at 11-over.

Subramaniam bounced back from a tough first round, carding a 74 ending the day in 65th at 13-over. Meanwhile, Maulding posted a 75 to come in at nine-over, tied for 54th.

The Huskies will tee off the third round Sunday from the 10th hole, beginning at 7:45 a.m. PT.
