The Head of the Charles is a three-day regatta held on the Charles River in Boston. It's the largest three-day regatta in the world. The time-trial races are run over a three-mile course that begins at Boston University's DeWolfe Boathouse and ends just after the Eliot Bridge and just before Northeastern University's Henderson Boathouse. The race course runs under six bridges that span the Charles from Boston to Cambridge.
Â
The Husky men have won the Championship Eights five times in the 2000s, while also taking home the Alumni Eights trophy three of the last five years and the Championship Fours the last two years in row. The Championship Eights race will feature entries from the Dutch National Team, the reigning world champions, as well as the U.S. men's eight, featuring Husky alum Madison Molitor.

The regatta will have live video coverage of the three-day event. Click in the "Live Video" link at the top of this page to follow along.
Â
No More UW Alumni & Family Tent
The Head of the Charles has ended the ability for teams to host alumni/family tents at the regatta, so there will not be a UW tent, as there has been for many years. UW Rowing wants to acknowledge all the hard work that Charlie Clapp '81 has done over the years in facilitating the Washington Rowing tent each fall. Thank you, Charlie!
Â
Donovan To Be Presented with "The Oarsman" at National Rowing Foundation Tent
Lyle Donovan, one of the members of the Huskies' National Champion national champion varsity eight last spring, will be officially presented with "The Oarsman," as the nation's top Division I heavyweight rower for 2025-26. The Oarsman is sponsored by the Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA). Fans, friends and alumni are invited to attend, Saturday at 4:30 p.m. ET, at the National Rowing Foundation tent.
