KAILUA-KONA, Hawaii – Washington closed out its fall stretch today, finishing the Nanea Invitational in 10th place with a total score of 908 after tallying 294 strokes in round three. The Huskies posted the low team round in the final 18 holes after playing 36 the day before, successfully avoiding an incoming storm in Kailua-Kona.
"I'm incredibly proud of how the team showed up today," head coach Anna Temple said. "We let yesterday get away from us, so for the players to come back in a better mindset and focusing on our controllables was great. We were able to execute a bit more, and it's important for us to build on the learning experience from yesterday and today."
Amber Li and Wendy Tang each carded one-under final rounds, the low score for the Huskies on the day. Li's 72 moved her to two-over for the tournament, tying her for 30th. Tang's performance put her at three-over, finishing tied for 33rd for the tournament.
Hannah Ounap posted an even-par round to finish the tournament at +10, tied for 45th.
Mads Smith carded a four-over final round, bringing her tournament total to +22, placing her in 57th.
Athena Ni concluded the Husky lineup with a +10 final round, finishing the tournament at +30 in 59th place.
Washington will not tee up again until Jan. 29, when the Huskies open the spring portion of their schedule at the Collegiate Invitational at GCC.
