Sebastian Gampert & Penn Charusorn Sign with Huskies for 26-27 Season
SEATTLE - Washington Men's Tennis has signed two new international prospects for the 2026-27 season. Penn Charusorn of Bangkok, Thailand, and Sebastian Gampert of Tuebingen, Germany, are set to make their way to Montlake next season.
Head Coach Rahim Esmail had this to say of the incoming prospects, "We are extremely excited about these two additions to our program. The landscape of college tennis and recruiting has changed dramatically over the past couple of years - the fact that we are graduating only one student-athlete this year and bringing in three new members to our team, two of them being Penn and Basti, puts us in a great position to continue to grow this young team."
Associate Head Coach, Luc Godin, said this of Charusorn, " Penn is an exceptional addition to the Washington Huskies; he brings a high-level international pedigree and a proven track record of success on the ITF Junior Circuit. He is unselfish and 100% committed to the team.
Assistant Coach, Christoph Palmanshofer, said of the signing of Gampert, "Sebastian is a smart player and good athlete that shows maturity beyond his years. He is already 100% bought into what we are building here, and will be a cornerstone for this team from the moment he steps on campus. We are very excited to have him here and eager to see him competing for the purple and gold!"
As both are coming to Seattle with plenty of experience against top competition in their respective countries, with Charusorn being a top-ranked player out of Asia and currently ranked as the No. 247 ITF Juniors player according to the Tennis Recruiting Network, while Sebastian, a top prospect out of Germany, is the No. 270 ITF Juniors player per Tennis Recruiting Network. Both have won titles on the Juniors Tour in 2024, with Charusorn capturing three, while Gampert picked up a pair in 2024 and a single in 2025.
"Penn has the desire and competitiveness to succeed as a Husky. He has proven that he can compete with some of the top juniors in the world, being one of the top players in Asia during his junior career. I am really excited for Penn's energy level and positivity to play a key role in our program. Myself and the rest of the coaching staff are excited at how raw Sebastian is. He has already proven himself on the world stage and within Germany, but we feel that his ceiling is very high. Sebastian is going to bring an elite level immediately when he arrives on Montlake. We are extremely excited at where this recruiting class is at the moment, and we are on track to having a recruiting class that puts us in a great position," continued Coach Esmail on the signings of these new Huskies.
