Huskies Win 10th Straight In Friday Night Run Rule Over Maryland

SEATTLE – The No. 21 Washington softball team (20-6, 4-0 Big Ten) won its 10^th straight game on Friday night, winning a run rule matchup 12-2 over Maryland at Husky Softball Stadium.

The Huskies improve to 20-6 on the season and earn their 12^th run rule victory of 2026.

The Terrapins got on the board first via an RBI double that put Maryland up 1-0.

The Dawgs didn't respond until the bottom of the second, starting with a two-RBI single from Alexis DeBoer that scored Melody Acevedo and Sophi Mazzola.

Giselle Alvarez blasted her eighth home run of the season in the bottom of the second to put the Huskies up 4-1.

A Terrapin home run in the bottom of the third cut the UW lead to two but that was as close as it got and Maryland was held scoreless the next two innings.

Jadyn Glab, who finished the night 2-for-2 with two walks and four RBI, doubled to left field to score pinch runner Jing Gardner in the bottom of the fourth.

Glab then scored the sixth run of the evening herself, as Ally Hetzel reached first on a fielder's choice.

Ava Carroll scored the seventh run courtesy of a Maryland miscue. Then pinch hitter Gabi Toney stepped up and hit a two-RBI triple to send Acevedo and Sophi Mazzola home.

The Huskies went up 9-2 after Toney's two-RBI triple. The Terrapins recorded a hit in the top of the fifth but left two runners on base as the game headed to the bottom of the fifth.

In the bottom of the fifth, leadoff hitter DeBoer got hit by a pitch to reach base. Alvarez then hit a single to put two runners on base with Glab up to bat. On the second pitch, Glab smacked a home run, her fifth of the season, to deep left center field to end the game then and there.

Washington returns to Husky Softball Stadium Saturday afternoon for game two against the Terrapins. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Big Ten Plus.
