
Huskies Tied For 10th After Opening Round Of Big Ten Championships

GLENDALE, Calif. -- The Washington women's golf team kicked off conference championship play on Friday at the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship at Oakmont Country Club, finishing the first round tied for 10th at 15-over par.
Amber Li and Carmen Lim led the Huskies both with two-over rounds, sitting tied for 22nd after 18 holes. Li posted a 38 on the front nine before turning it on with an impressive back nine, carding four birdies on alternating holes 10, 12, 14 and 16 on her way to a four-under 34 on the inward nine. Lim turned in a sharp 33 on the front nine with two birdies before closing with a 39 on the back.
Athena Ni posted a four-over par, picking up birdies on both nines, and sits tied for 41st heading into round two.
Wendy Tang carded a seven-over to sit in a tie for 64th, while Mads Smith rounded out the Husky lineup with an +11 in 82nd place.
Washington will continue play in round two of the Big Ten Women's Golf Championship Saturday at Oakmont Country Club. Mads Smith is the first Husky to tee off at 10:10 a.m. PT.
