Herstad Leads Corvallis Regional After Opening Round
May 18, 2026 | Men's Golf
CORVALLIS, Ore. – Freshman Emil Herstad leads the NCAA Corvallis Regional after an opening round 66 (-5) at Trysting Tree Golf Club.
Herstad is one shot ahead of a group of five at 4-under. Herstad's round is his lowest of the season, edging his previous round of 67 at the Amer Ari Invitational. The freshman had six birdies to one bogey including four birdies on the back nine.
"Awesome round by Emil," head coach Alan Murray said. "He made it look pretty effortless and was super impressive. He hit a ton of excellent shots, and it was a nice round. Lots of golf left, of course, but he can take great confidence from today's performance."
Finn Koelle and Jacob Goode were paired together in today's first round. They both shot even par (71) to tie for 33rd. Koelle went 2-under on the par 5s accounting for both his birdies on the day. Goode went 2-over on the front but bounced back with a 2-under final nine.
"Solid rounds from Finn and Jacob," Murray added. "Seems like they battled their long games a little so to hang in there and shoot even was nice work."
The Dawgs will tee off on Tuesday beginning at 9:31 a.m. PT off hole No. 1 for the second round. Goode will be in the group out at 9:31 a.m. PT followed by Koelle at 9:42 a.m. PT and Herstad at 10:04 a.m. PT. Live scoring is available through Clippd and a live stream will be available through Babygrande Golf – which is a paid service.
