SEATTLE – The Husky offense was hot yet again as the Dawgs earned a 4-2 Big Ten victory over Penn State on Friday night. Washington improves to 4-2-1 and 1-0 in conference play with the win.

Despite the final scoreline, it was Penn State who got on the board first. The Nittany lions scored on a rebounded shot in the 33^rd minute.

Just five seconds after the restart, Zach Ramsey scored from nearly 18 yards out with a thumping left-footed strike to the top corner. Egor Akulov earned the assist on the play.

It was Ramsey's 10^th goal on the young season in only six matches played.

The even scoreline continued into the break despite a healthy shot advantage for Washington. The Huskies blasted eight shots against Penn State's two in the first 45 minutes.

Washington carried the momentum out of the break and took a 2-1 lead just five minutes after play resumed. Alex Hall put the Huskies up 2-1 tapping in a perfect cross from Emmett Layman.

Penn State responded this time, however. The Nittany Lions evened the match just 90 seconds later on a corner kick goal.

Alex Hall helped the Huskies take the lead again in the 59^th minute. He delivered a corner kick to the near post where he found the head of Asher Hestad. The Husky right back blasted the ball into the back of the net, leaving no chance for a save.

It was Hestad's first goal of the season and the eventual game winner.

In the 86^th minute, Zach Ramsey put the game to bed. Washington's goal-scoring machine recorded his fourth game this season with at least two goals scored, upping his tally to 11.

He controlled a rebounded shot in the goalkeeper box and nailed into the bottom corner to put the Huskies up 4-2.

Like most matches this season, the Huskies were the aggressor across the full 90. Washington tallied 20 total shots to Penn State's six. The Dawgs also had 14 corners on the night, against just two for the visitors.

Zach Ramsey led all players with two goals, one assist, five total points, seven shots, and five shots on goal in 86 minutes of action.

Asher Hestad and Alex Hall each had a goal and an assist in the match as well.

Harrison Bertos, Egor Akulov, Asher Hestad, Alex Hall, Zack Meier, Wyatt Lewis, and Stockton Short all played the full 90 minutes in the match.

Emmett Layman, Callum Lugton, Kevin Hernandez, Jake Goetting, and Chad Sovde all featured for the Huskies off the bench.

Washington returns to action on the road next week. The Dawgs head to face both Indiana and Ohio State on the Big Ten road trip, beginning at Indiana on Friday, September 18.
