Four Huskies Head To ITA All-American Championships

SEATTLE – Washington women's tennis will send four representatives to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-American Championships beginning Saturday, Sept. 19 and running through Sunday, Sept. 27 in Cary, N.C. at Cary Tennis Park.
Jermine Sherif, Alexia Jacobs and Marie Weissheim will compete in both singles and doubles. Karolina Kozakova will compete in singles alongside Sherif.
The tournament serves as the first qualifier for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships which will be held Nov. 17 through 22 in Athens, Ga. at Dan Magill Tennis Complex. Ten singles players will qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship – eight main draw quarterfinalists and the two feed-in consolation finalists. Five doubles teams will qualify for the NCAA Doubles Championship through the All-American Championships – four main draw semifinalists and the consolation champion.
Entering the championship, the doubles team of Jacobs and Weissheim is ranked fifth nationally in the ITA preseason rankings. It is the highest preseason rankings for any doubles team in program history. The doubles pair of Sherif and Kozakova is ranked 63rd in the preseason rankings.
Jacobs and Weissheim will begin the tournament on Saturday morning in the singles prequalifying round at 8 a.m. PT. Sherif will enter in the qualifying round on Monday. In doubles, the pair of Sherif and Kozakova will begin the quest for NCAAs in the qualifying round which also starts on Monday while Jacobs and Weissheim enter in the doubles main round beginning on Wednesday.
