Sprinkle Taps Jayson Wells As Director Of Mindset & Culture

SEATTLE โ Washington head men's basketball coach Danny Sprinkle has announced the addition of Jayson Wells to his staff as the Huskies' Director of Mindset & Culture.
Wells most recently spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Cal State Fullerton, serving under Titans head coach Dedrique Taylor, under whom Sprinkle coached as an assistant from 2013-19.
Prior to officially joining the coaching staff at CSUF, Wells was involved with the Titans program for several years as a skills development and mental performance coach, designing and delivering off-court mindset and leadership content to support the team and culture.

A native of Cleveland, Ohio, Wells is the founder of Jayson's Playground and the Shoes Have Souls Podcast and has been involved in motivational speaking and skills development since his retirement from professional basketball in 2010.ย

From 2017-2024, Wells was involved with Chapman & Co. Leadership Institute as a business consultant, earning the Client Impact Award. With Chapman & Co., Wells served as a lead facilitator for clients such as American Airlines, US Bank, Dierbergs, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, Southwire, Keeley Construction, Ranken Technical College.

Wells was a director of skill development with Nike Grassroots Basketball from 2012-17, including as the director of the Nike Elite 100 from 2015-17. Wells was also involved with skill instruction for camps involving Kobe Bryant, Lebron James, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis.

During his playing career, Wells spent 13 seasons playing basketball overseas after graduating from Indiana State University in 1998. He won championships in Finland, Ukraine and Israel and was selected to All-Pro teams in Sweden, Australia and Israel. He finished the 2003-04 season as the top rebounder in the Israeli Basketball Premier League.

Wells prepped at Cleveland Central Catholic High School where he led his team to consecutive North Coast League titles. While at Indiana State, Wells led the team in scoring and rebounding his senior season and was named an All-Missouri Valley first team member.ย
