2025-26 (SOPHOMORE)
A workhorse on the boards, Howell led the Big Ten in defensive rebounds per game (7.8) — becoming the first guard to do so since the 2022-23 season. Behind 50.8% shooting from the field, 43.1% shooting from behind the arc, and 76.2% shooting from the line, Howell finished third in the Big Ten in 3-pointers made (85) and fourth in 3-point percentage (43.1%). Additionally, the sophomore finished fifth in the conference in rebounds per game (8.3), eighth in minutes per game (34.3), and 22nd in points per game (14.2). She moved into third in Husky history with 85 made 3-pointers in a single season and eighth for her 43.1% mark from behind the arc. She delivered one of her finest performances of the season in an upset win against No. 6 Michigan on New Year’s Day, recording a double-double before the first half came to a close and finishing the afternoon with 22 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. For her efforts, she was recognized as a USBWA Player of the Week and on the Big Ten Weekly Honor Roll. She later followed that up with a terrific 34-point, 14-rebound performance to help Washington pull out an overtime victory against Wisconsin (2/8) and set a new career-high in points. Howell was equally impressive in the Huskies’ NCAA Tournament win against South Dakota State (3/20), finishing with 30 points and a career-high 7 3-pointers made — a mark that moved her into a tie for third-most in a single game by a player in March Madness. Howell finished her season with seven double-doubles, and ended up in double-figures in points on 24 occasions and in rebounds in another 10 contests. She consistently played at her best against NCAA Tournament opponents, notching five steals against Maryland (1/28), four assists against Minnesota (1/18), and two blocks against Illinois (2/1). Making 33 starts, Howell averaged 14.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and 1.4 steals. In her sophomore campaign, she improved her overall shooting percentage by seven percent (50.8%, 161-317) and her shooting percentage from behind the arc by three percent (43.1%, 85-197). Howell was also recognized as a College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection.
2024-25 (FRESHMAN)
Before transferring to the Huskies, Howell played a season with USC. She was an impact player in the NCAA Tournament for the Trojans and recorded her best performance of the season against Kansas State (3/29) in the Sweet 16, where she logged 18 points with four 3-pointers, eight rebounds, and four steals in 37 minutes. In a dominant win against Purdue (1/22), Howell was named Big Ten Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week after she contributed 18 points, knocking down four 3- pointers and all six of her free throws, while adding three steals. Howell recorded another 18-point performance in the Round of 32 against Mississippi State (3/24), but she was particularly efficient in finding her teammates for open looks, adding a season-high six assists. With her prowess from deep, Howell finished 19th in the Big Ten in 3-point field goal percentage (39.9%). Appearing in 35 games with three starts, she finished her freshman season averaging 7.5 points and 3.0 rebounds. Howell shot 43.1% from the field (84-195), 39.9% from behind the arc (59-148), and 82.9% from the line (34-41).
