Laura Freimuth serves as the director of basketball operations for Washington women’s basketball and enters her 13th season with the Huskies in 2026-27.
Freimuth oversees several areas of the program’s day-to-day operations, including budget management, team travel, scheduling, event coordination, and game-day logistics. She also serves as a primary liaison between women’s basketball and other areas of the athletic department, while supervising student-managers and contributing to recruiting operations.
Throughout her tenure at Washington, Freimuth has helped guide the program through significant changes across collegiate athletics, including the COVID-19 pandemic, Washington’s transition to the Big Ten Conference, and the program’s return to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons in 2025 and 2026. Her experience and institutional knowledge have made her a central part of the program’s operational success.
Freimuth came to Washington after serving as an assistant coach at California Lutheran University, where she helped lead the team to a fourth-place SCIAC finish and an appearance in the SCIAC Tournament semifinals.
Prior to California Lutheran, Freimuth served as an assistant coach at Long Beach State. In 2012-13, the Beach earned an at-large bid to the WNIT, marking the program’s first national postseason tournament appearance in 13 years.
Freimuth began her professional career at the University of Southern California, where she worked as a graduate assistant and video coordinator before being promoted to director of operations for women’s basketball. During her time at USC, the Trojans advanced to the Pac-10 Championship Final for the first time in program history in 2009 and appeared in the NCAA Tournament in both 2005 and 2006, advancing to the second round each season. Freimuth also served as an advanced scout for the WNBA’s New York Liberty in 2008.
She earned her master’s degree in postsecondary administration and student affairs, with an emphasis in athletic administration, from USC in 2008 after earning her bachelor’s degree in communications from USC in 2005.
