University of Washington head baseball coach Lindsay MeggsΒ announced Elliott CribbyΒ was returning to his alma mater to join his coaching staff on June 13, 2019. Cribby, who lettered three times at UW from 2006-08, will serve as the Huskies' Associate Head Coach, Pitching Coach and Recruiting Coordinator.
In his first summer at Washington, Cribby paid immediate dividends. He helped re-shape the 2020 roster by recruiting several key contributors to the teams' success on the field. The Huskies ranked third in the Pac-12 in ERA (2.54) and fourth in both strikeouts (148) and strikeouts per 9 innings (10.17). He helped Stevie EmanuelsΒ successfully transition from the bullpen to a starting role where the junior ranked first in the Pac-12 in strikeouts and third in both wins and ERA. Cribby also continued to recruit tirelessly and helped put the finishing touches on a 2021 signing class that is among the best in not only the Conference, but the nation.
Cribby spent the 2019 season as Purdue's pitching coach and previously was associate head coach and recruiting coordinator at Seattle University from 2014 to 2018. He was pitching coach at Abilene Christian in 2013 and the head coach at Mount Si High School in Snoqualmie, Wash., from 2011-12. He won a state title at Mount Si in 2011.
Β
In his lone season with the Boilermakers, Cribby helped Purdue reach some historic standards. The pitching staff set strikeouts records for most in a season (477), most in a game (18 vs. Indiana) and strikeouts per nine innings (9.10).
Β
Several individuals had standout seasons under Cribby's tutelage. Bo Hofstra become one of the more dominant relievers in the Big 10. The All-Big 10 third team member was 2-2 with a 1.62 ERA and recorded seven saves. Trent Johnson set a school record for strikeouts per nine innings with 10.89.
Β
Cribby has a long history of success in recruiting and developing young pitchers. Three of four Seattle U players drafted in 2018 were pitchers, headlined by Tarik Skubal being selected in the ninth round. Another of his signees in 2018 was drafted in the 11thΒ round. Cribby also mentored right hander Nick Meservey to WAC Pitcher of the Year honors in 2016.
Β
While with the Redhawks, Cribby was voted best recruiter in the WAC by fellow coaches in a D1Baseball.com poll. He helped build Seattle U rosters that featured multiple draft picks in 2018, 2017 and 2015. During his five years, the Redhawks had 18 players or recruits selected in the MLB Draft. Additionally, players he recruited were Freshman All-Americans from 2015-17.
Β
Seattle's pitching staff led the WAC in strikeouts for three straight seasons from 2014 to 2016. The 2016 team was tops in the conference in almost every pitching statistic and among the top 20 nationally with a 2.72 strikeout-to-walk ratio. That season's staff recorded 448 strikeouts vs. 165 walks while surrendering only 18 home runs in 501 2/3 innings.
Β
Cribby had an outstanding career for the Huskies and still has his name in the UW record books. He ranks seventh with 13 career saves, including 10 in 2006, which is tied for sixth all-time in Husky single-season history. In all, Cribby made 70 appearances on the mound for the Huskies and had at least 20 appearances in each of his three seasons.
Β
He was honorable mention All-Pac-10 in 2006 when he ranked among the Conference leaders in several categories: second in saves (10), sixth in wins (7), 10thΒ in earned run average (3.76) and 10thΒ in opponent batting average (.255). Cribby was the UW's Sociology Student of the Year as a senior in 2008 and earned Pac-10 All-Academic honorable mention recognition. He earned his master's in intercollegiate athletic leadership in 2009.
Β
Prior to attending Washington, Cribby spent two years at Columbia Basin Community College, playing one season in 2004 and sitting out 2005 with an injury. He is a graduate of Lake Washington High School in Kirkland, Wash.
Β
Cribby's father, Ed, also played baseball at UW, earning four letters between 1974 and 1977.

Β COACH LINDSAY MEGGS ON ELLIOTT CRIBBY'S HIRING:
"It gives me great pleasure to officially welcome Elliott to the University of Washington, and back to the Husky Baseball family. As a pitching coach and a recruiting coordinator, Elliott's success at both Seattle University and Purdue University clearly speaks for itself, and as a former Husky standout, Elliott appreciates the privilege associated with attending the University of Washington as well as the hard worked involved in competing for Pac-12 Championships.
Β
"With that in mind I can't think of a better fit than Coach Cribby to help us continue on the road to Omaha. With a proven history of developing pitchers into MLB prospects and a Master's Degree in Intercollegiate Athletic Leadership, Elliott Cribby is the perfect role model to help our players continue to build on our DaWgStrong culture. This is a great day for our program, a great day for our alums, and a great day for Husky Nation."
