May 15, 2026 | Baseball
Washington got off to a hot start again, scoring the first three runs of the game across the second and third innings. Casen Taggart got the offense started, driving in two runs with a two-RBI triple in the second inning.
Washington now has 19 triples on the year, the fourth-most in the nation.
Washington scored again in the third as Mic Paul brought home Colton Bower with an RBI double.
The Huskies held No. 1 UCLA for 14 straight innings between Thursday and Friday, but in the sixth inning of the second game, the Bruins got on the board. A two-run home run closed the Dawgs' lead to just one.
Jackson Hotchkiss answered in the seventh with a two-run shot of his own. He blasted a ball 402 feet to left field to restore the three-run advantage for the Huskies.
With his 19th home run, Hotchkiss moves into a tie for No. 3 in the Husky record book for home runs in a season.
In the eighth inning, the Bruins pulled two back again. In the top of the ninth with two outs, UCLA found another hit to give them their first lead of the weekend.
The Huskies put runners on first and second in the bottom half of the frame, but Washington couldn't find the decisive hit to tie things up.
Hotchkiss and Blake Wilson each led the offense with two hits. Overall, Washington had 10 hits to seven knocks for the Bruins.
Six Huskies pitched in the game, led by Noah Kenney who started the game and threw 3.0 scoreless innings. He surrendered just one hit while striking out two batters.
Washington will look to take the series with a win on Saturday at 12 p.m.
