PHOENIX - The Washington baseball team fell to 0-3 on the season, losing Saturday afternoon to Creighton, 14-3, at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
The Blue Jays improved to 3-0 with the win. They also beat the Huskies in Thursday's season opener.
Creighton scored in every inning but the fifth. Vince Pietro had four hits to lead the Jays while Eric Brown homered and three RBI. Ovid Valentin also hit a home run for Creighton.
Husky sophomore Todd Linden continued his hot hitting. The left fielder from Bremerton went 4-for-4 with a double while driving in all three UW runs. For the year, he's batting .818 (9-for-11) with 11 RBI, and he's reached base in each of his last 11 plate appearances.
UW junior starter Mike Bomar (0-1) gave up seven earned runs in three and one-third innings for the loss. Creighton starter Rob Holmes (1-0) pitched the first six innings to pick up the victory and Keith Hood worked the last three for a save.
The Huskies close out their season-opening trip Sunday when they take on Northern Iowa and Northwestern in a pair of seven-inning games.
