Baseball's Streak Ends At Three

ST. GEORGE, Utah - The Washington baseball team's brief three-game winning streak was broken Tuesday afternoon at Bruce Hurst Field as Jarod Ingersol led Southern Utah to 13-8 win.
The game, which had originally been scheduled to be played in Cedar City, Utah, was moved to St. George due to snow. The original re-scheduling called for a 6:00 p.m. start, but the gsame was finally moved to noon.
Ingersol, who had a single, a double and a grand slam home run, collected eight runs batted in for the Thunderbirds (8-9). SU ace Zach Barnard improved to 6-1 with the victory, working seven and two-thirds innings. UW sophomore Zack Daniels (0-1) allowed five earned runs in four and one-third innings for the loss.
With the scored tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth, Ingersol launched a grand slam over the left field fence to give his team a 5-4 lead. The Huskies cut the margin to 5-3 in the fifth on RBI singles from Marc Rittenhouse and Justin Drake.
The Thunderbirds, however, extended the lead to 12-3 in the bottom of the fifth, scoring seven runs. Ingersol's three-run double highlighted the scoring. In the top of the sixth, Husky senior Ed Erickson led off the inning with a homer to right, his second of the year and Michael Done's double drove in Duggan Moran to make it 12-5.

The Huskies and Thunderbirds continue the three-game series Wednesday at noon MST at St. George. Thursday's game may be played at Cedar City if the weather there improves.
