OKLAHOMA CITY - Jaime Clark homered and Rosie Leutzinger went two-for-three with a two-run double to lead the No. 1 seed Washington Huskies to a 3-2 win over the No. 8 seed DePaul Blue Demons in first-round action at the College World Series.

Jennifer Spediacci (34-4) went the distance for the Huskies and picked up career win No. 100, but not without a little difficulty. The Blue Demons got a first inning infield single from short stop Liz Bouck to lead off the game. An out later, right fielder Shevaughne Desecki dropped a two-run home run into the bleachers in left-center field and the Blue Demons were ahead, 2-0.

Jaime Clark opened the bottom of the second with a towering home run to left field, making the score, 2-1. Spediacci followed with a blooping single to left and was sacrificed to second by Melissa Downs. Designated player Jamie Graves chopped an infield single over third. Although Spediacci was unable to advance on the play, after a pitching change, Leutzinger's double to deep left field scored both Spediacci from second and Graves from first and the Huskies took the 3-2 lead for good.

Spediacci did not allow a hit after the first inning and struck out five on her way to the win. Vanessa Saavedra (14-8) suffered the loss for the Blue Demons, as all three runs were scored against her. Lindsay Chouinard came on in relief who, except for the double by Leutzinger and a sixth-inning single by Kelly Hauxhurst, quieted the Huskies.

Washington advances to face the winner of the UCLA-Alabama game tomorrow at 6 p.m. CT.
