Huskies Move Up To Sixth At UH-Hilo Intercollegiate

HILO, Hawaii - Washington men's golf carded a second-round score of 10-under 270 to move up to sixth place at the UH-Hilo Intercollegiate at the Waikoloa Golf Course, Thursday.
The Huskies' second-round effort was one of the best by any of the 18 teams in the tournament so far, as UW stands at 10-under 550 going into Friday's final round. Stanford shot a scorching 17-under 263 in the second round, leading the team field at 22-under 538 overall. Arizona State is second at 17-under 543 and USC is third at 16-under 544.
For the second-straight day, sophomore Nick Taylor led the Huskies. After equaling a career-best 18-hole score in the first round, Wednesday, Taylor just got better setting a new career-mark with a 4-under 66 in the second round. Taylor is tied for seventh place at 7-under 133.
Senior Zach Bixler is three strokes behind Taylor after shooting a 3-under 67 in the second round. Bixler is tied for 14th and is 4-under 136 heading into Friday's final round.
Sophomore Darren Wallace shot 1-under 69 and is tied for 31st at even-par 140. Junior John Wise was the fourth Husky to card a second-round score in the 60's with his 2-under 68. Wise is tied for 70th at 5-over 145. Freshman Tze Huang Choo is tied for 78th at 6-over 146. Choo duplicated his first-round score of 3-over 73 on Thursday.
The UH-Hilo Intercollegiate concludes Friday with tee times beginning at 9 a.m. PT (7 a.m. HT).
