Swanson Scores First Goal As A Husky

SEATTLE, Wash. - After a tough 1-0 loss on the road at UCLA in Pac-12 play Friday, the UW women's soccer team returned home to face the San Francisco Dons in a non-conference contest, coming out on top, 4-2.
UW improves to 4-4-2 overall and is 0-1-0 in the Pac-12. USF is now 3-7-0.
USF took the lead in the 15th minute as Molly Hall went one-on-one with Husky keeper Kari Davidson and bounced it over her head and into the back of the net. The assist went to Jaciara Mello.
Just seconds later off of the kickoff, sophomore Hillary Zevenbergen (Woodway, Wash.) scored off a rebound to even the match.
Senior Alex Webber (Poway, Calif.) was fouled hard in the box in the 21st minute which led to a penalty kick. Fellow senior Kate Deines (Issaquah, Wash.) took the shot and made it for her first goal of the season as UW went up 2-1.
Freshman Chelsea Archer (Oakland, Calif.) gave UW a 3-1 lead heading into the half with a great shot on the right side of the box in the 38th minute. She was assisted by sophomore Allie Beahan (Sammamish, Wash.).
The final UW goal put the Huskies up 4-1 as redshirt freshman Morgan Swanson (Tacoma, Wash.) scored her first career goal as a Husky in the 59th minute. Freshman Jaclyn Softli (Sammamish, Wash.) took the shot first, it hit the crossbar and Swanson was there to put it back in.
The Dons got another goal by Hall, unassisted, in the 64th minute. She hit a nice shot from the right side of the box to the upper left corner.
Davidson, a redshirt junior from Portland, Ore., improves to 1-1-0 in goal and made two saves in the game.
UW had 24 shots and five corner kicks while the Dons had seven shots and one corner.
Zevenbergen and Deines led the team with five shots each.
The Huskies host Cal on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m.
