
No. 25 Huskies Tie Roadrunners

PORTLAND, Ore. - Spencer Richey made three saves for the No. 25 UW men's soccer team as it played Cal State Bakersfield to a 0-0 draw on Sunday at the Portland/Nike Invitational in Portland, Ore.
"We played well. They (Cal State Bakersfield) were a good team and it was just a battle back and forth," said senior team captain Dylan Tucker-Gangnes. "We had some chances as they did but in the end we finished with a draw."
Both teams were able to generate some chances as each team had three shots on goal. Cal State Bakersfield held a slight shot advantage, firing 14 shots to the Huskies' 13 shots in the match.
Cal State Bakersfield saw most of its chances in the first half with nine shots, including two on goal. However, Richey came up with two big saves keep the Roadrunners scoreless.
All three of the Huskies shots on goal came in the second half but Eric Shannon was able to come up with three saves for the Roadrunners.
After playing 90 scoreless minutes, neither team was able to generate much in the two overtime periods. The Huskies were able to manage one shot in the second OT while keeping the Roadrunners without a shot in the extra 20 minutes.
Sophomore Bradley McIntosh led the Huskies with three shots in the match. Tucker-Gangnes, Ben Fisk and Michael Harris each fired two shots and put one on goal.
Next up, the UW travels to Stoors, Conn., to take on the top-ranked team in the nation, UConn, on Friday. Match time is set for 4 p.m. (PT) with the match also set to be televised on Fox Soccer Channel.
