Sometimes there are perfect starts and sometime there are not. With high expectations for me and my team, a win and a loss are not as easily accepted, but at the same time the progress that our team has made over the past weekend could be far more beneficial than a win on Sunday against Creighton.
Coming into our first weekend was very exciting as it gave us a better picture of where we were at as a group. Our first match against Cal Poly was by far the easier of the two but although we went down a goal early there was no doubt in our team that we would end up on top. A very good effort was put forth that put our team at the top at the end of 90 with a final score of 3-1.
Sunday we battled Creighton who was ranked somewhere within the top 15 teams in the country. We played a little conservative in the first half and on our one defensive mistake they capitalized. After half time we fought back and began to high pressure more and play our own style of play. We equalized half way through the match but still unsteady in the back we let in yet another goal. Pushing to equalize we finally did but soon after only to be devastated by another mistake in our back line leading to the deciding goal that they scored. Finishing second in that match really hurt because we were better than that side. But as I began to realize its very early in our season and these mistakes in the back are better to come out now so we can correct them now rather than later.
