SEATTLE - Washington (12-9, 3-6 Pac-12) will host archrival Washington State (13-11, 2-7) on Saturday, April 20, at noon for the Pac-12 finale. The Dawgs look to finish the regular season by winning their final conference match.
Saturday's match will be telecast on the Pac-12 Networks, although it is only available via tape-delay. The first showing of the match is set for 5 p.m., PST on Sunday, April 21.
Washington is coming off a 5-2 win over Sacramento State as it took a quick break from Pac-12 play. The Dawgs won the doubles point and then four of six singles matches to pick up win number 12 of the season.
Among the winners last weekend were Grace Ysidora picking up her third win of the season at No.2, Elianne Douglas-Miron winning at No. 3 and Riko Shimizu at No. 6.
In doubles, Douglas-Miron and Shimizu remain ranked, this week coming in at No. 65. The duo is 11-9 at the No. 1 spot for Washington this season.
Saturday will be the final match for Washington to improve its NCAA Tournament resume. Washington is ranked No. 48 and hopes to be included in the 64-team field. The women only play singles and doubles at the Pac-12 Tournament, meaning UW will not have a chance to add team wins.
The Cougars also come to town in eighth place in the Pac-12, one game behind UW. WSU has lost four of the last five with their last win coming in Boulder on April 5. Washington State has had the same results in the Pac-12 as UW with the exception of the Arizona match, where Washington earned a win, while the Cougars did not.
Washington State is led by Liudmila Vasilieva who plays No. 1 singles. Her 105 career wins is second on the all-time WSU list. Washington has a 48-10 all-time record against the Cougars. The 48 wins are the second most against any school for Washington. The only school Washington has defeated more often is Oregon, who they have beaten 59 times.
