
Washington Heads To The MacKenzie Invitational

The 15-team playing field includes Arizona State, BYU, Cal, Fresno State, Loyola-Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Oregon State, Pepperdine, Saint Mary's, San Diego State, San Francisco and San Jose State. Cal, the tournament host, has taken first place seven years in a row.
Washington enters the invite coming off a 12th place finish at the Nike Collegiate Invitational in Fort Worth, Texas. The Huskies faced a competitive 15-team field that featured 10 teams ranked in the top 20 of the Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll. After posting a 286 and 289 in the first two rounds, Washington had a tough final round, shooting a 303 (+23), bringing their total to 878 (+38).
Junior Frank Garber paced the Huskies last weekend, earning a tie for 14th place with an overall 213 (+3). The Kirkland, Wash. native shot a 74 (+4) in the final round, pocketing two birdies, leading the Huskies with eight total. This placing marked his best finish of the season.
