Huskies Announce Competitive 2017 Schedule
SEATTLE – The 2017 Husky Baseball schedule was announced and it features two non-conference series against 2016 NCAA Tournament participants and the challenging demands of a full Pac-12 slate.
Washington will start the 2017 season on the road with back-to-back trips to California's Bay Area. The Huskies will open the season at Santa Clara in a four-game series from Feb. 17-19, followed by a four-game set, Feb. 23-26, against St. Mary's – who is fresh off a trip to the 2016 NCAA Raleigh Regional – in Moraga.
The Huskies usher in March with a three-week homestand, including their first series at Husky Ballpark, March 2-5 against Sacramento State. That four-game series is followed by four games against Coach Lindsay Meggs' former team Indiana State. The Huskies' eighth-year coach led the Sycamores from 2007-09 and will be facing his former team Friday, March 10 through Monday, March 13.
Washington will open up Pac-12 play, March 17-19, by hosting 2016 Pac-12 Champion Utah. The Huskies finished last year as runner up to the Utes with a 17-13 record in Pac-12 play. They were 33-23 overall with their second trip in three years to the NCAA Regionals.
The Huskies will head over to Spokane for a two-game, mid-week series (March 21-22) against Gonzaga, who participated in the 2016 NCAA Fort Worth Regional, before resuming Pac-12 play on the road against Oregon (March 24-26).
UW takes a break from Pac-12 action by hosting Baylor for three games (March 31-April 2) and playing the first of three mid-week games against Seattle U on April 4. The Huskies also face the Redhawks April 25 at Bannerwood Park in Bellevue and May 9 at Husky Ballpark.
The Huskies make another stop in California with a three-game series against UCLA from April 7-9 and will stay in Los Angeles for another day and play at Loyola Marymount on April 10 before returning home to host Oregon State. The Huskies and Beavers – the two Pac-12 teams with the best winning percentages over the last three years – will play a Thursday through Saturday series, April 13-15.
The Huskies wrap up April with the Apple Cup of baseball taking place, April 21-23, in Pullman before hosting California, April 28-30.
UW kicks off the final month of the regular season with a couple of back-to-back matchups against the Arizona schools. They head first to Tucson where they will face NCAA Championship runner-up Arizona Wildcats, May 5-7. The Huskies then return home to host Arizona State for three games from May 12-14.
The Huskies hit the road for one final time, May 19-21, heading back to the Bay Area and to Palo Alto, Calif. to face Stanford in a three game series.
Washington closes out the regular season at home. The Huskies will host USC May 26-28, with senior day ceremonies taking place during the Sunday game.
All dates and game times are flexible until the Pac-12 Conference reveals the television selections, which we be announced in mid-November.
