
Washington Finishes 12th Alister MacKenzie; Garber Ties For 12th Overall

FAIRFAX, Calif. --- Senior Frank Garber posted a final round 2-under par 69 to finish 12th overall in medalist play to lead the Washington Men's Golf Team to a 12th place finish at the Alister MacKenzie Invitational hosted at the Fairfax Golf Club in Fairfax, Calif.
After a rough first day, the Huskies matched the third-lowest round of the day, posting a 5-under 279 to move up a spot and finish at 856 (289-288-279).
Garber started the final round with a bogey, but was solid the rest of the way, carding a birdie on the par-5 13th, then collecting an eagle on the par-5 15th. He would par out the rest of the rounds to finish at 2-under for the day and 6-under 207 (68-70-69) for the tournament.
Noah Woolsey carded the low round of the day for the Huskies, recording five birdies and a bogey for a 4-under 67 to finish with at 3-over 216 (75-74-67). Henry Lee carded a 2-over 215 (72-70-73) for the tournament with Jordan Lu recording an 11-over 224 (80-74-70) including a 1-under 70 in the final round. Rounding out the scoring five for the Huskies was Jan Schneider with a 13-over 226 (74-78-74).
"The team played better today," said head coach Alan Murray. "We got a pair of great scores by Garber and Woolsey, with Garber having a great tournament. We have a couple of weeks of before we head to Hawaii to close out the fall season. We've got a lot of work to do and I'm looking forward to getting back to Seattle and getting to it."
Washington closes out the fall at the Warrior Wave Invitational Oct. 29-31.
