
Huskies Announce 2018 Schedule

SEATTLE - The Washington Huskies announced their 2018 softball schedule Monday, October 23.ย Washington will take on 12 2017 NCAA Tournament teams, including two Women's College World Series teams.ย Overall, Washington's opponents had a .560 winning percentage last year.
The season will kick off with a month of road games, starting in Peoria, Illinois.ย The Huskies will play five games over four days at the Bradley Dome in the first non-conference tournament of the season.
After that, Washington heads to Texas for eight games.ย That trip will begin with five games in Huntsville, starting with games against Northern Colorado and Wichita State on Friday, February 16.ย The Huskies will also play Seton Hall on Saturday, February 17 and Sam Houston State and Wichita State on Sunday, February 18.
The Texas trip continues for Washington with a doubleheader on Monday, February 19 against 2017 Southland Conference finalist Lamar.ย Two days later, Washington will play the Texas Longhorns on Wednesday, February 21, taking on the the 2017 NCAA Regionals participant in Austin.
Washington's non-conference season will next send the Huskies to Palm Springs, California for the Mary Nutter Classic.ย The Huskies will play five games there, starting with a matchup against 2017 NCAA Regionals participant Notre Dame on Friday, February 23.ย On Saturday, February 24, the Huskies will play two games, first against Texas A&M, which also made the 2017 NCAA Regionals, and finishing the day against Nebraska.ย The Mary Nutter Classic ends on Sunday, February 25, with Washington playing Wisconsin and Long Beach State.
The home season begins on Friday, March 2 when Washington hosts the Husky Classic, a three-day, five-team tournament.ย The Huskies will play 2017 Super Regional participant Alabama, Northwestern, reigning West Coast Conference champion BYU, and Portland State during the tournament.ย Washington will face off with Alabama twice during that tournament.
The non-conference season ends with one final tournament in Las Vegas.ย Beginning Friday, March 9, the Huskies will take on 2017 NCAA Regionals participant New Mexico State twice, as well as playing UNLV, 2017 Big East champion DePaul, and Portland State once each.ย Washington's final game of the non-conference season will be a Wednesday, March 14 home matchup against Bryant.
Washington's Pac-12 schedule begins at Arizona State March 17-19.ย Last year, the Huskies swept the Sun Devils in three games in Seattle.
The Huskies will open their home conference slate with three games against 2017 conference champ Arizona.ย That series will take place March 23-25.
It will be a trip to the Bay after that, with the Huskies heading to Stanford to take on the Cardinal March 29-31.ย Washington took two of three from Stanford in last year's series.ย The Huskies will fit in a non-conference matchup with Seattle University on Wednesday, April 4 after the Stanford series.
Washington's longest homestand of Pac-12 play will come after that Stanford trip, beginning with the Seattle U game.ย The Huskies will be home for two weeks, taking on Utah April 6-8 before taking on Cal April 13-15.ย Washington won all six regular season games against those two teams in 2017, then took two-of-three from Utah in the NCAA Super Regionals to advance to the Women's College World Series.
Two series against fellow WCWSย teams comes next following the homestand.ย Washington travels to Los Angeles to take on UCLA in three games on April 20-22, then hosts Oregon April 27-29.ย The Huskies beat both of those teams in the Women's College World Series last year.ย Washington won the regular season series against Oregon but fell to UCLA two games to one.ย The series against Oregon will be the final regular season home series of the year.
The final series of the regular season comes May 4-6, with the Huskies in Corvallis to play Oregon State.ย Washington took two of three games in the Oregon State series last year.
Washington will once again host NCAA Regionals and Super Regionals in Seattle.ย Regionals will take place the weekend of May 18, with Super Regionals set for May 25-27.ย The Women's College World Series will be in Oklahoma City this year, beginning on May 31.
The Huskies made the semifinals of the College World Series last year and return 15 players from that team, including All-Pac-12 First Team pitcher Taran Alvelo and All-Freshman infielder Sis Bates.ย Six newcomers join Washington, including sophomore transfer and 2017 Schutt Sports/NFCAย National Freshman of the Year finalist Taryn Atlee.
