Baseball Team Spreads Holiday Cheer With Clothing Drive
December 10, 2018 | Baseball
In what has become a holiday tradition with the Husky Baseball program, players and coaches are gathering clothing and donating it to the less fortunate during the Christmas season.Β This has become an annual effort with Husky Baseball and Coach LindsayΒ Meggs believes theΒ effort in itself benefits both the needy and his players as they work to give something back.Β
"We talk about having an 'Attitude of Gratitude' when it comes to the privilege of being involved in this program," said Meggs. "And we are more than happy to do our part for those in need."
Β
The players believe that by giving something back to the less fortunate they are not only making a difference in the community, but also being reminded of how fortunate they are to be student athletes at the University of Washington.Β
Β
"Our clothing drive reminds us of how fortunate we are for the things that we have and the lives that we live," said junior pitcher Chris Micheles (Puyallup, Wash.).
Β
Junior catcher Michael Petrie of Mercer Island, Wash., added:Β "Simply taking a couple of things out of your closet can have a huge impact on someone else's life, and that humbles us, putting our fortune into perspective."
Β
The Huskies wish everyone in the greater Seattle area and across the entire Northwest a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year!
