February 09, 2018 | Softball
PEORIA, ILL. – The Washington Huskies made it two wins in two games with an 11-0 shutout of Bradley Friday, winning game two of their doubleheader after defeating Saint Louis 15-3 earlier in the day. Kirstyn Thomas and Taryn Atlee each set career highs for RBI in a single game with six and four, respectively.
Taran Alvelo cruised through the game in the circle. The junior struck out the side three times, ending the game with 11 strikeouts in five innings of work. Alvelo allowed just three baserunners all game and faced two over the minimum.
Thomas had three extra-base hits in her four at-bats. The Texan started things off with a home run in the first to bring three runs in, then doubled in another in the second. She would homer again in the fourth.
Atlee also homered in the game, driving in three runs with her blast over the right-center wall to make it 8-0 in the second inning. Atlee also singled in the 4th to give her four RBI on the day.

- The six RBI by Thomas (3x4, 3 R, 1 2B, 2 HR, 6 RBI) were a new career high. She had previous driven in three runs in a game four times, the last on March 22, 2017 at Grand Canyon
- Thomas' six RBI were the most since Morganne Flores drove in seven on May 26, 2017 against Utah.

- Alvelo (5.0 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 11 K) had four double-digit strikeout games last year. Her 11 today were her most since striking out 12 on April 15, 2017 at Oregon
- Atlee's (2x3, 1 R) four RBI were a career high. She twice had two-RBI games as a freshman.
