Dawgs To Boise For Last Nonconference Week

SEATTLE - Another week on the road for the Husky volleyball team as the final nonconference matches of the year for the Dawgs take place in Bronco Gym, home of Boise State. The 13th-ranked Huskies (5-2) will place the host Broncos along with CSUN and Sacramento State as part of the Boise State Classic, which also includes Portland.
Boise State will provide a live stream of all matches this week, starting Thursday night when the Dawgs and Broncos square off in Boise State's home opener at 6:30 p.m. Pacific time/7:30 p.m. Mountain.
Friday brings the last double-header of the season for UW as they take on CSUN at 8:30 a.m. Pacific then go up against Sacramento State at 4:00 p.m. Pacific.
Boise State has a 6-1 record thus far including two 16-14 five set wins over Long Beach State and Milwaukee. The Broncos lost for the first time in their last match to UC Davis. Last year Boise State went 17-14 and played in the National Invitational Volleyball Championship. Senior outside hitter Sabryn Roberts is leading BSU with 3.93 kills per set and also has 2.96 digs and 0.82 blocks per set. Senior middle Morgan Hughes leads the team in blocking and aces, with 1.11 blocks per set and 0.54 aces per set. The Broncos are hitting .186 for the season compared to .136 for their opponents.
The Matadors of CSUN are 4-5, having gone up against Arizona as well as then-No. 8 Florida, suffering straight set losses in both. CSUN has won its last two over Southern Illinois and Northern Arizona. Last season, CSUN was 13-15 and 7-9 in the Big West. Senior outside hitter Aeryn Owens has strong numbers, averaging 4.27 kills per set while hitting .278. Junior middle Brianna Johnson is hitting .373 with 1.33 kills per set and Morgan Salone is posting 1.70 kills at a .305 percentage. Senior libero Kristey Markle leads in digs with 3.49 per set.
Sacramento State has already played 11 matches, going 5-6, with a four set loss to Arizona but wins in two of its last three over Nevada and UC Riverside. The Hornets are hitting .182 and serving well, averaging 1.82 aces per set, led by 31 aces (0.69/set) from Skyler Takeda. Mikaela Nocetti is averaging 3.63 kills while Lana Brown is blocking 1.31 per set and adding 1.82 kills on a .298 percentage. Paige Swinney's 4.73 digs per set lead the back row play. The Huskies have only played Sacramento State once in 1999, a 0-3 loss.
