
Kahle Named Semifinalist For Buster Posey Award

WICHITA, Kan. -- Washington junior catcher Nick Kahle was named one of 14 semifinalists for the Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Award by the Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission on Friday. The finalists will be announced on June 3 and the award will be handed out at the 22nd Annual Greater Wichita Sports Banquet on June 27.
Kahle is one of two Huskies to start all 47 games this season, playing 43 of those behind the plate. He has recorded 16 multi-hit games this season and driven in multiple runs in 15, while reaching base in 44 of 47 games.
He enters the weekend leading the Huskies in batting average (.351), on-base percentage (.521), RBI (49) and walks (56). Kahle is tied for the team lead with 54 hits and is second with 8 home runs, 37 runs and 7 doubles.
Kahle has a discerning eye at the plate and has walked a school record 56 times, while striking out just 21 times. He ranks fifth nationally in walks and third in on-base percentage.
Behind the plate, Kahle has thrown out 50 percent of runners that have tried to steal against him (12-of-24).
