September 22, 2019 | Men's Soccer
The Huskies improve to 7-1-0 with their third-straight win, staying perfect in Pac-12 play at 2-0-0. The Bruins drop to 3-4-0 and to 0-2-0 in the conference.
The win marked the 106th victory at UW for Husky head coach Jamie Clark who improves to 106-43-20 and moves into second on the program's all-time wins list.
Washington scored its most goals in six seasons on Sunday with Meek once again getting things going for the Huskies. The sophomore got a great pass from Blake Bodily to put him behind the defender and one-on-one with the keeper. As the on-rushing keeper slid for the ball, Meek calmly tapped it over him, ran onto it and fired it into the goal from close range.
The tally was his team-best fifth goal of the season with four of them proving to be match-winners and all of them coming as UW's first goal of the match. He has managed that total despite playing in just 112 minutes on the season.

But the Huskies weren't done there. Just 12 minutes later, Freddy Kleemann netted his first collegiate goal, heading home a corner kick from Dylan Teves to put Washington up 2-0 early on.
Just before the half, the Huskies struck again. Freshman Imanol Rosales pressured the UCLA keeper into a turnover, stealing the ball away from the sprawling keeper on the end line, then walking it into the empty net. It was the first collegiate goal for Rosales.

In the second half, Joey Parish recorded his first of the season in the 53rd minute. Christian Soto received a long pass from the Husky defense and fired a shot toward goal. It was knocked away by the UCLA goalie, but right to Parish who sent a half volley into the back of the net.

Washington capped the scoring in the 60th minute as Ethan Bartlow scored his second goal of the season, converting a penalty kick after Jaret Townsend drew a foul in the box.
Sam Fowler recorded his fourth shutout in as many collegiate starts, making a pair of saves to extend his scoreless streak to 360 minutes to open his time at UW.
The victory marked the first time the Huskies scored five goals since 2012 when UW beat San Diego State 5-3 at home. It was also the most goals Washington has scored against UCLA in 52 all-time meetings between the two teams.
Washington gets a bit of a break this week before returning to action on Sunday, September 29, hosting the University of Portland in a non-conference match at 4:00 p.m.
