Washington Cruises Past Portland, 7-0

SEATTLE --- Washington picked up its second-straight win, cruising past Portland 7-0 in a non-conference match on Friday night at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
The Huskies improve to 6-2 with the win while the Pilots fall to 1-2.
Washington earned the doubles point with a pair of victories at No. 1 and No. 2. Katarina Kopcalic and Nika Zupancic were first off, winning easily 6-0 at No. 2. Vanessa Wong and Natsuho Arakawa recorded a 6-1 win at No. 1 just a few minutes later to get the Huskies a 1-0 lead early.
In the singles, Arakawa continued her perfect start to the spring with a quick 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 2. She is now 8-0 in duals so far this year and 17-2 overall. Zoey Weil moved up to No. 5 in the match and was the second off, winning 6-1, 6-1 to improve to 3-0 at No. 5 in duals. Wong then clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-3 victory at No. 1, and is also a perfect 8-0 in the spring.
Nika Zupancic played her first match of the season at No. 4 and was able to pick up a 6-2, 6-4 victory just before freshman Ashley Chang earned her second dual win with a 6-4, 6-4 decision at No. 6. Katarina Kopcalic rounded out the match with a 7-5, 6-4 victory at No. 3.
The Huskies don't get much of a rest, returning to the courts on Saturday afternoon, taking on Purdue in a non-conference match at 1:00 p.m. at the Nordstrom Tennis Center.
