No. 2 Huskies Dominate Cal to Move to 11-0
October 10, 2021 | Men's Soccer
After a scoreless first half, the Huskies exploded for 4 goals in a dominant second half that saw four different players put one in the back of the net.
Just five minutes into the second half, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi drew a foul right outside of the box to set up a free kick for UW. Three Huskies lined up over the ball, but it would be Imanol Rosales who took it. With his right foot, Rosales lifted it over the wall and into the upper-left corner for a beautiful opening goal. It was his third goal of the season and second game-winning goal in the last three matches.

That goal was the 11th of the season for Washington resulting from a set piece.
It would only take four more minutes for the Huskies to find the back of the net and it was their leading scorer Dylan Teves who did it. A deep ball sent into the box after a cleared corner kick resulted in a scramble in front of the net. The Golden Bears couldn't clear it and Teves stuffed it into the net.

UW was back at it again less than 10 minutes later. After the Huskies won possession in their defensive half, Imanol Rosales sent a long ball into Cal's half. The Golden Bears' goalkeeper came out to make a play, but Nick Scardina won the ball and slotted it home for the 3-0 lead.

After a contested first half that saw no scoring, Washington scored three times in 12 minutes to put the match out of hand.
Berkeley native Kalani Kossa-Rienzi would add the exclamation point of his homecoming match in the 90th minute. He received a pass just outside the box, put a move on his defender and tucked the ball inside the right post.
