September 08, 2021 | Baseball
SEATTLE -- Very soon, an extremely deep and talented group of newcomers will step foot on campus at the University of Washington. And on Wednesday, BaseballΒ America named this group the 24th-best recruiting class in the country.
The Huskies' class of incoming freshmen is led by a pair of local products in Max Debiec (WestΒ Seattle, Wash.) and AJ Guerrero (Fife, Wash.). Debiec, a right-handed pitcher,Β is ranked as the No. 161 overall recruit in the country by Baseball America. An infielder/outfielder, Guerrero is the 475th-ranked recruit nationally and has displayed elite offensive potential.Β
UW once again had a very successful cycle recruiting the junior college ranks and was able to greatly bolster its pitching staff this time around. Bryce Armstrong (Corning, Calif.) is a big-time lefty who put up stellar numbers at Butte College last season. Jared EngmanΒ (Kent, Wash.) brings a big arm and physical presence to Montlake. He is a local prospect out of Kent, played at Tacoma Community College and played summer ball out in Wenatchee with the AppleSox this year.Β Β
Stay tuned for more news on the Husky newcomers as they are set to arrive on campus in the coming weeks.
