Beach Dawgs Battle With No. 4 UCLA, Clinch Win Against ASU
April 08, 2023 | Beach Volleyball
Palo Alto, California – Day two of the Pac-12 North Invitational presented a steep challenge to the Washington Husky Beach Volleyball Team. First test for the Dawgs was No. 4 UCLA, followed by a strong Arizona State team. Despite the loss, the Huskies had a valiant fight against the Bruins. Head coach Derek Olson commented on his teams efforts.
"We played our best volleyball of the season against UCLA this morning and that was really cool to see," Olson said, "Getting two straight set wins against the likely favorites to win it all was inspiring and knowing we were a 3rd set away from taking them down is encouraging."
The Huskies had a quick turnaround to play the Sun Devils and proved to keep the mojo alive.
"I also knew that it would make the next match that much more difficult because we need to bring the same level of energy against ASU," Coach Olson said, "We had to dig deep in that one and that also showed our resolve. Very solid weekend for us and we are looking forward to playing at home for the first time all season next weekend at Alki."
The Huskies have their first and only home tournament next weekend at Alki Beach, April 15-16.
