Huskies Drop Tight Battle With Top-Ranked UCLA

SEATTLE – In Washington's inaugural Big Ten Conference game Sunday, the Huskies fought a close battle with the top-ranked UCLA Bruins, ultimately falling 73-62 inside Alaska Airlines Arena.

The Washington women's basketball team (7-3, 0-1 Big Ten) held No. 1 UCLA to 35 first half points and 73 total, a team that averaged 85 points per contest coming into Sunday's matchup.

The Huskies saw four players in double-digits for the second straight game, led by Elle Ladine who finished with 19 points, four rebounds, two assists, and a block.
Dalayah Daniels contributed a season-high 14 points on 6-of-10 shooting, while also pulling down five rebounds and a steal.

Sayvia Sellers added 13 for Washington, to go along with three rebounds, two assists, two steals, and a career-high three blocks.Â
Hannah Stines neared a double-double with 12 points and a season-high eight rebounds.Â

The Dawgs outrebounded the Bruins 32-30, the first time this season a team has pulled down more boards than UCLA.

13 of those rebounds came on the offensive glass, the eighth game this season the Huskies have pulled down double-digits offensive rebounds.

The Huskies will shift back to non-conference play for the next three games before the holiday break.Â

Washington will host Utah on Saturday, December 14 for the Dawgs' white out game. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. at Alaska Airlines Arena.
