SEATTLE – Jared Engman gave Washington a stellar outing on Friday but the Huskies dropped a nailbiter to the Pac-12 leaders in Arizona, 3-2, at Husky Ballpark.

Engman received a no decision, going 6.2 innings with two runs allowed on three hits, striking out four. Isaac Yeager took the loss in relief.

The Huskies had chances early to jump out front, but left five runners on through the first three innings as Engman and the Wildcats' Jackson Kent took a pitcher's duel scoreless into the seventh.

A leadoff home run for Arizona in that seventh broke the deadlock, with the Wildcats tacking on another run.

However, Aiva Arquette quickly tied it, tattooing a frozen rope two-run blast to left center, tying the game at a pair apiece.

A leadoff double would spell trouble for the Huskies, coming around to score to give Arizona the lead back at 3-2. A leadoff single from Arquette gave the Dawgs life in the ninth but they couldn't make it pay, dropping the opener.

The two sides will meet again on Saturday at 2:05 p.m. PT during the third and final Bark in the Park of the season at Husky Ballpark. Fans not in attendance can follow along on Washington Live Stream 2.

• Aiva Arquette extended his hitting streak to 15 games, one shy of UW's season long of 16 set by Jeter Ybarra.
• The sophomore's seventh inning home run was his 10^th of the season, taking over the solo team lead.
• Engman's 6.2 innings is his longest outing of the season, one out shy of his career-long.
