
Bower and Kole Launch Second Homers Of The Season As Huskies Fall To Stanford

STANFORD, Calif. – Washington tallied five runs in the third game against Stanford, including two home runs, but fell short in a 9-5 loss on Sunday afternoon.
The Huskies move to 2-5 on the season while Stanford improves to 7-0.
Washington jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, taking advantage of Stanford miscues. Sam DeCarlo reached first base on a single and took second on a wild pitch. After tagging up on a fly out by AJ Guerrero to reach third, he stole home on another wild pitch to put Washington in front.
The Huskies added to the lead in the fourth when Braeden Terry brought home Casen Taggart on an RBI ground out. The following inning, Colton Bower tagged his second home run of the season, a 403-foot shot to left field.
In his second start of the season, Tommy Brandenburg pitched 5.2 innings, allowing only three hits and two runs. He struck out five batters as well.
Jase Evangelista and Josh Emanuels combined to finish the sixth inning, allowing five runs. Justin Tims came in to pitch the seventh, fanning two batters while allowing two more Stanford runs.
AJ Guerrero pulled one back for Washington in the seventh, hitting an RBI single to left-center field, bringing home Terry. Trevor Kole scored the final run of the game for the Huskies in the eighth with a 390-foot solo home run to left field.
Will Woodward made his Washington debut in the eighth, pitching a scoreless inning and allowing one hit. He was the second Husky to make his debut in the game after Easton O'Neal pinch-hit in the top of the fourth inning.
Washington concludes its four-game series with Stanford on Monday as Bradley Gilbert will make his second start of the season. First pitch is slated for 1:05 p.m. at Sunken Diamond.
