SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington women's tennis team (3-1) recorded its second 7-0 sweep in as many matches, as they beat Gonzaga in Spokane Sunday afternoon.
Washington's doubles pairs got things done quickly before heading to singles, as No. 35 Alexia Jacobs and Reece Carter beat Gonzaga's top pair 6-0.
McKenna Koenig and Carina Syrtveit picked up a win in their first match of the season as a doubles pair, clinching the first point for the Huskies with a 6-1 victory.
Jacobs picked up where she left off against Portland earlier this week, earning another singles victory with a 6-2, 6-0 rout on court three against Gonzaga's Hesham.
Sophie Luescher followed suit, notching a Dawg win on court five by a 6-1, 6-0 margin over the Zags' Nielsen.
Koenig clinched the match for Washington with a 6-1, 6-3 win on the fourth court. The match played out, giving every Husky a chance to earn a win on the way to a 7-0 sweep.
"Today I felt the energy between every court," Jacobs said. "Every match was so great, and it was so fun to be out there competing with everybody until the last match. We have some great momentum going into our home weekend starting on Friday."
UW comes home for a pair of matches next weekend, first hosting Washington State on Friday, Feb. 14 and then Arizona State on Sunday the 16th.
