Washington Closes Nonconference Slate Against Gonzaga On Tuesday

SEATTLE - Washington welcomes Gonzaga to Husky Soccer Stadium on Tuesday night for the final nonconference game of the regular season. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. with the game broadcast on Big Ten Plus and livestats available at Huskystats.com.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Gonzaga is 2-2-1, most recently earning a 2-0 victory in Spokane over NAIA side Oregon Tech. The Bulldogs have two road results this season as well, earning a 1-1 draw with Utah Tech to open the campaign and a 1-0 win at Incarnate Word. Gonzaga is led by Alex Bazia with two goals for four points, along with 13 shots and six on target. Drew Pedersen is the top distributor for the Bulldogs with two assists.
SERIES HISTORY
The Huskies own a 34-1-2 record over the Bulldogs, including a perfect 20-0-0 record when playing on Montlake. Washington has won 14 of the last 15 matchups, with the two teams drawing 1-1 in Spokane in 2023.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Washington concluded its non-conference slate with a 1-1 draw at Gonzaga on Saturday night. The Huskies move to 5-4-4 on the season.
Nick O'Brien put the Huskies on the board first with his second goal of his career in the 13th minute. O'Brien has notched two goals in his last three appearances.
Gonzaga's lone shot on goal in the contest found the back of the net to level the score at one in the 30th minute.
The two teams were unable to find the net in the second half to end in a one-all draw. The Bulldogs out-shot the Huskies in the second half five to three.
Jadon Bowton got the start in goal for the second time this season. Nate Jones, Kalani Kossa-Rienzi, Richie Aman, Sean Sent and O'Brien all registered shots on the night.
Bryan Iliohan led all with three shots, two of which came on goal.
ON TOP IN B1G OPENER
Washington moved to 1-0 in Big Ten play on Friday after a 2-1 win over Michigan State at Husky Soccer Stadium. Charlie Kosakoff used his first career brace to dismantle the Spartans. He also tallied four shots, all of which were on goal to lead Washington to seven total attempts on target.
FEWING CUP SUCCESS
Washington unleashed a barrage of goals to keep the Fewing Cup on Montlake, tallying seven goals against Seattle U for a 7-2 victory on Capitol Hill. It's the first time Washington has bagged at least seven goals since a 7-0 win on October 8, 2000 against California.
Zach Ramsey led the Huskies with a brace, scoring the game-winning goal in the first half before netting a free kick goal in the second half. Richie Aman registerred two assists while five other Huskies, Harrison Bertos, Connor Lofy, Clarens Dollin, Chad Sovde, and Egor Akulov found the back of the net.
RAMSEY RUNNING RAMPANT
Sophomore Zach Ramsey recorded his first career brace against Seattle U and continued his scorching hot streak. He has recorded at least one point in each of the last four games, totaling nine points during that stretch. He leads all Huskies in total points.
After three goal contributions and four total points last week, Zach Ramsey was named to the Top Drawer Soccer Team of the Week as an honorable mention selection. It's the first TOTW award for Ramsey and for any Husky this season.
OFFENSIVE OPPORTUNITIES
The Huskies have been applying the pressure in the first six games, recording more shots than their opponents in all but one game. The Huskies currently rank 7th in the NCAA in corner kicks per game, averaging 7.33 so far this season. The Huskies have scored 15 goals, led by Zach Ramsey with three strikes.
BACK TO BACK POINTS
Both Connor Lofy and Alex Hall have contributed points in back-to-back games, helping spur the Huskies to their current two-game winning streak and five-game unbeaten streak. Hall assisted Lofy's goal at Seattle U, and each player provided the pivotal ball to Kosakoff's goals against Michigan State.
Hall has two points this season from his two assists while Lofy has three points from his one goal and one assist.

Washington has rocketed into the statistical national rankings, Sitting in the top 25 in eight different categories.
The Huskies highest rank is seventh in corner kicks per game (7.29) and total goals (17). The Huskies are also 10th in total points (50), 16 in total assists (13)

FINDING THEIR GROOVE
Since opening the season with two losses and one goal through the first two games, the Huskies have rattled off five unbeaten, coming from three wins and two draws. In that span, the Huskies have scored 16 goals, averaging 3.2 goals per game.
TOP DISTRIBUTORS
Zach Ramsey and Richie Aman have been among the most successful at creating goals this season. Both midfielders rank in the top 35 in total assists, with Aman sitting ninth in the nation (4a) and Ramsey at 34th (3a). Aman is also 45th in assists per game (.57) while Ramsey is 111th (.43).

DAWG DEBUTS
12 Huskies have made their Washington debuts in the first two matches of the season. Levi Bieber, Brecken Bowers, Cameron Cruz, Clarens Dollin, Jaeger Felton, Carter Gay, Osato Enabulele, Sheehan Ganguly, Philip Kleeman, Zack Meier, and Kevin Hernandez, and Chad Sovde all featured during the first four games of the season.
BRICK WALL BIEBER
In his second career appearance, Levi Bieber recorded his first win and shutout. He anchored the Washington defense against UNLV, recording two saves on six shots faced to secure the victory. So far this season, Bieber has recorded nine saves against 29 shots faced and is averaging three saves per game, the third-best mark in the Big Ten.
BIG TEN PLAYERS TO WATCH
Egor Akulov, Richie Aman, and Charlie Kosakoff each were recognized as Big Ten Players to Watch.
Akulov, a redshirt junior defender, started all 21 games a season ago and amassed 1921, the second most minutes on the team, trailing only starting goalkeeper Jadon Bowton. The Redmond, Washington native tallied two goals on the season, and went the distance, playing every minute of 20 games, including 110 minutes against Michigan State in the Big Ten Tournament and Seattle U in the NCAA Tournament. Akulov was instrumental in helping the Huskies advance to the second round of the national tournament, scoring the winning penalty of the penalty shootout to send the Huskies to the next round.
Aman, a senior midfielder, figures to be a focal point of the Huskies' attack. Last week, he was also named a Midfielder to Watch by United Soccer Coaches. Aman leads all returning players with 17 career points, including a career-high seven points a season ago. He has four goals and nine assists to his name and he set career-high marks in 2024 in games played (21), games started (18), goals (2), points (7), shots (33), shots on goal (12), and minutes (1455).
Kosakoff, a junior forward, will be a leader on offense for Washington in 2025. With five goals and four assists last season, the San Diego native will again look to lead from the front. Kosakoff played in 20 matches in 2024, making 16 starts. Twice last season he tied his career-best points total when he scored a goal and chipped in an assist against Air Force and at Indiana.
PICKED FIFTH IN CONFERENCE
Entering year two in the Big Ten conference, Washington has been picked to place fifth in the 11-team league, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Washington finished 8-6-7 last season, advancing to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Huskies ended the season with a 4-3-3 record in Big Ten play, finishing fourth in the league with 15 points.

CLARK INKS EXTENSION
Following UW's first season in the Big 10 and their 11th NCAA Tournament appearance in the last 14 years, head coach Jamie Clark signed an extension at the University of Washington, tying him to the Huskies through 2029.
Washington has become a postseason regular under Clark and has consistently earned results in the national tournament. The Huskies secured their ninth second round appearance in the NCAA Tournament in 2024 after advancing out of a penalty shootout against Seattle U.
In 2021, Clark guided the Dawgs to a national runner up finish, the best result in program history, while also tying the program record for wins in a season with 18. The Huskies have finished with at least eight wins in 13 of Clark's 14 at the helm and have claimed at least 12 wins 11 times since his appointment as head coach.
HOMEGROWN TALENT
Washington's roster features 19 of 29 players who hail from the state of Washington. Four players claim Seattle as their hometown (Asher Hestad, Joe Dale, Cameron Cruz, and Jaeger Felton), while two each are from Spokane (Kenny Pierpoint and Jadon Bowton), and from Bellevue (Sheehan Ganguly and Chad Sovde).

Washington returns goalkeeper Jadon Bowton for the 2025 season who figures to be instrumental for the Husky defense. He was named Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week twice in 2024 and led Washington to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after making three penalty saves in a row against Seattle U in the first round.
His eight shutouts in 2024 were the ninth-most in the NCAA and the sixth-most in a single season in Husky history He also has participated in mental health activations for UW. Following his fifth year of soccer this fall, he plans to begin working a tech job in Seattle.
DEFENSIVE DOMINANCE
Junior defender Harrison Bertos made 20 starts in 2024 and helped UW to top-50 marks in the NCAA in goals against average and shutout percentage.
Bertos was selected in the second round of the MLS SuperDraft, but decided to return to Washington for his junior season in 2025.

Of those postseason appearances, Clark's Huskies have made four trips to the NCAA Quarterfinals, including three straight NCAA Quarterfinals appearances from 2019-21.
