
Sherif, Doubles Pair Advance To ITA All-Americans Qualifying Round

CARY, N.C. – The Washington women's tennis team picked up six wins on day two of the ITA All-American Championships at Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Jermine Sherif opened the day with a three-set victory over Baylor's Kennedy Gibbs 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. She closed out her second singles contest of the day with a 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 win over Florida's Nikola Daubnerova to advance to Monday's qualifying draw.
In the singles consolation draw, Carina Syrtveit (6-3, 6-2), Alexia Jacobs (6-3, 7-5) and Marie Weissheim (6-4, 6-3) won their matches in straight sets.
In doubles, Erika Matsuda and Syrtveit won their second match in as many days, defeating Wake Forest's Jingyi Li and Krystal Blanch 6-2, 6-1 to advance to Monday's qualifying draw. The duo will take on No. 27 Roisin Gilheany/Gloriana Nahum of Oklahoma at 12:30 p.m. PT.
Matusda and Carter will begin their singles tournament run on Monday at 8 a.m. PT and 9 a.m. PT, respectively.
